A year ago, I took the leap to focus my work mainly on Madeira. I love the island, its people, peace and colours. However, who aims to live there tastefully and modern, may notice quickly: Choice and quality are scarce. For that reason I do not just deliver good ideas but also the network, material and understanding – for design and the Portuguese mentality.
One important thing that I have learned from the Portuguese people is that “being patient is not a lack/ waste of time ( das muss Verschwendung und nicht Fehlen heißen, weil wenn man Geduld hat, hat man Zeit) but it shows respect for one another“. Working together with the Portuguese have changed me literally. Besides working efficiently, I work with the flow of time. I can easily transfer this feeling to any of my projects: Rooms that invite to stay and to take a deep breath.
I listen carefully, before I start planning.
Each room carries its own handwriting.
From shell construction to moving in.
Craftsmen you can rely on.
Precious character traits that I learned from my Portuguese business partners – it has become a part of mine.
I think ahead – ecologically, practically and holistically.
